I have been blessed with so many repeat clients over the years. I have been taking photographs of this family since Theo was a baby. And now there are two beautiful smiles to capture! I have blogged about Theo before because one year he came running up to me from 100 yards away to give me a hug. So sweet! We scheduled this mini portrait session for Oak Hill park in Petaluma. I love the golden warm colors and the big oak trees. It is a perfect place for our yearly sessions.
Theo has such a beautiful and contagious smile. Baby sister Stella has the same huge smile! This family is so blessed!
Solian, what a beautiful name for this blue eyed baby boy! Mom emailed me after Solian was home and was very eager to have his newborn photos taken. I was so happy to have a few appointments open that worked for them as well. I arrived at their cool apartment in the Castro, San Francisco and set up a little studio next to their big windows. Mom had mentioned his beautiful blue eyes in our correspondence so I went to this session with a different approach. Usually, I would like the baby to be asleep but we wanted to capture his eyes! So, it worked out perfectly. He was awake and happy (not a normal thing for a newborn!) and he actually gave us smiles…what a treat!
Dad worked hard to do some soothing and we were able to get a few photos of him asleep as well. What a parenting pair, they worked so well together. I can’t wait to see Solian grow!
A little chubby baby sitting up and smiling at me is just about all I can take. This is one of my favorite times to photograph little babies. I did a naked photo session for both of my babies at about 6 months and I love them. The sweet and interactive expressions are just adorable. This client wanted to capture all of her little girls features and expressions that will definitely change as time goes on. This is part of my “First Year Journey” package which includes the newborn session, a sitting up session and a standing/one-year photography session. I love to capture the growth to see the changes but to also see the similarities of each of their traits. Milestones sessions can be either in the studio or on location. This session was in the clients home but has a studio feel.
I love when all of the preparation and conversation before the newborn portrait makes the session run seamlessly! Mom and I exchanged many emails regarding style, ideas and how to prepare for the session. Emanuelle arrived to my Potrero Hill studio asleep and ready to rock every set up we had ready for her! I started with her wrapped in a swaddle and in a basket. She couldn’t STOP giving me adorable smiles! I was so happy! Mom really wanted some amazing photographs with dad and Emanuelle so I made sure to do those right away while she was still asleep. Little miss E graced us with all sorts of bodily fluids and I was thankful for my easy-clean floors. Dad’s shoes however…
We did some beautiful family photos and then moved to some of sweet Emanuelle all on white. I love the simplicity and sweetness of these photos.
Mom beamed, “These are fantastic, thank you, Emily! We love them.”
